Hasaacas Ladies, Ampem Darkoa Ladies dominate Women’s Premier League

AFTER Week 14 of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, Hasaacas Ladies and Ampem Darkoa Ladies sit top of the Southern and Northern Zones respectively, both on 30 points with four matches left to end the 2025/26 season.
In the Southern Zone, five-time champions and Africa’s silver medalist, Hasaacas Ladies, picked up a crucial 1–0 win over Army Ladies at the Teshie Mats Park. Both sides came into the Week 14 fixture level on points, but a 48th-minute strike from Millot Abena Pokuaa separated the two teams and pushed Hasaacas three points clear at the top, leaving Army Ladies second on 27 points.
Elsewhere in the Southern Zone, Epiphany Warriors were held to a goalless draw by Samartex Ladies, while defending champions, Police Ladies, were frustrated by Jonina Ladies in a stalemate. Soccer Intellectuals edged Oak Ladies 2–1, and Ladystrikers claimed a narrow 1–0 win over Halifax Queens.
In the Northern Zone, leaders Ampem Darkoa Ladies were without their goal queen, Ajegipena Zakaria, who is on national assignment with the Black Queens and scored against Hong Kong at the Pink Ladies Cup on Saturday. Despite her absence, Ampem Darkoa managed a 1–1 draw against their rivals, Prisons Ladies, to maintain their comfortable lead.
Still in the Northern Zone, Northern City Ladies drew 2–2 with Kumasi Sports Academy, Tamale Super Ladies played out a goalless draw with Northern Ladies, Dreamz Ladies thrashed Ashtown Ladies 5–0, while FC Savannah defeated Fosu Royal Ladies 2–0 away from home.
With just four matches remaining, the race for the league title, top-two finishes, and survival promises high drama across both zones as the 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League heads toward a thrilling conclusion. -Shesport
