Nana Yaw Konadu appointed PKO Boxing President

Former world boxing champion, Nana Yaw Konadu, has been appointed President of PKO Boxing and the PKO Foundation, marking a major leadership transition within the organisation.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was confirmed after more than a week of due diligence and compliance checks. PKO Boxing said Mr Konadu underwent a thorough assessment process and was unanimously approved by the Board of Directors and key stakeholders.

Widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most accomplished boxers, Konadu brings a distinguished legacy from the ring into his new leadership role. Born in Sunyani in 1964, he amassed an impressive professional record of 41 wins, five losses and one draw, with 32 of his victories coming by knockout.

Konadu captured the WBC super-flyweight world title in 1989 before going on to win the WBA bantamweight title twice in the mid-1990s. These achievements elevated Ghana’s profile on the global boxing stage and cemented his status among the country’s all-time boxing greats.

In announcing the appointment, PKO Boxing highlighted Konadu’s personal values as central to its decision.

“Nana Yaw Konadu represents humility, hard work, transparency and trustworthiness,” the organisation said. “His leadership gives hope to fellow boxers and aligns with PKO’s mission to protect athletes, promote honesty and build future world champions.”

PKO Boxing reiterated that the welfare and development of boxers remain at the heart of its vision.

In a related development, PKO Boxing announced the appointment of Mrs Princess Sandelle Dankwa as its new PR and Marketing Manager
