2 friends jailed 50 years for robbing cocoa farmers
Two friends, who attacked and robbed cocoa farmers at Abenaa Ntiriwaa, near Adiembra, in the Atwima Mponua District, have been sentenced to a total of 50 years imprisonment by the Nkawie Circuit Court.
Kwame Agyei, also known as (alias) Pizaro, 36, and Adamu Abu, 23, alias Rasta, pleaded guilty to the charges and were convicted on their own plea by the court presided over by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey.
Detective Inspector Anthony Acheampong told the court that the convicts, farm labourers at Agogoso, near Adiembra, planned to rob a couple who sold their cocoa beans.
He said on May 31, this year, the convicts attacked the couple with a locally manufactured pistol and machetes, and robbed the man of GH¢ 1,500.00 and the woman of GH¢ 140.00 and bolted.
The Nyinahin police arrested the convicts and in their caution statements, they admitted the offence. – GNA
