Kotoko beat Future Stars FC

Kumasi Asante Kotoko defeated lower-tier side Future Stars FC 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium yesterday to advance to the round of 32 of the ongoing MTN FA Cup competition.

The game, which marked a return to the Porcupine fortress after it was closed for repair works, saw Future Stars holding their own against the Premiership side in the first stanza.

Forward Albert Amoah, who combined beautifully with Saaka Dauda, opened the scoring in the 65th minute, beginning the celebrations among the Kotoko faithful in the stands.

The host had a field day, enjoying the lion share of possession, but after near misses that would have raised the goal tally, Amoah hit a superb strike in the 86th minute, which came off the crossbar before entering the net.

A late rally by Future Stars FC to get on the score sheet proved futile as the robust Kotoko backline held their own.
