Lordina Mahama donates to Tishigu Health Centre
The former First Lady, Lordina Mahama, has donated medical supplies and equipment to the Tishigu Health Centre in the Tamale North constituency of the Northern Region to enhance the facility’s efficiency and delivery.
The items included 10 hospital beds, two delivery beds, two overbed tables, two wheelchairs, a fridge, two baby cots and two baby cribs.
The rest are two baby carts, four boxes of gloves, six packs of syringes, one baby scales, five crocs, a box of gauze, two boxes of gowns and theatre uniforms.
The presentation was made at a health durbar on breast cancer and general health screening, on Friday at Tishigu in the Tamale North constituency.
Mrs Mahama said as deadly as breast cancer was, regular screening and early detection could be lifesaving, and encouraged community members to normalise regular and utilise free health screenings and prioritise their health.
She was of the conviction that with the presentation of the items the facility would be better positioned to undertake the screenings.
“By equipping our local clinics with these essential supplies, we are taking a meaningful step toward bridging this gap. We are working to make healthcare not for a privileged few, but a right for everyone.
“Our rural communities face unique challenges—the distance they have to travel to receive medical care, the limited resources at these rural health care facilities, and sometimes lack of health care professional are all a challenges to their health and wellbeing,” Mrs Mahama stated.
She, therefore, pledged the Lordina Foundation’s continuous commitment to scale-up support for the less privileged in society in order to improve their wellbeing.
“As we move forward, let’s remember that this is only the beginning. Every donation, every act of kindness, creates waves of change—change that is essential to rebuilding our country.”
In appreciation of the gesture, MP for Tamale North, Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini, noted that the equipment and supplies would go a long way to enhance health care delivery in the area.
He said the health of the constituents was critical if the area was to see any development.
Mr Suhuyini expressed gratitude to the chief of Tishigu for releasing land for the construction of the health centre, and credited the MP’s Common Fund for helping complete the project.
