Melcom Group, Point Africa launch digital loyalty programme

Melcom Group, in partnership with Point Africa on Friday launched a digital loyalty programme to reward customers for purchases made across its outlets and partner networks across the country.
Launched under the theme: ‘Rewarding Every Purchase,’ the initiative seeks to promote digital payments, enhance consumer value and boost the spending power of Ghanaians through a unified digital rewards ecosystem.
It would also enable customers to earn and redeem points when they shop with participating brands and businesses on the platform, including those in the grocery, fuel, retail, banking, insurance and informal sectors.
Speaking at the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of Point Africa, Mr Andrews McBarnett, described the partnership with Melcom as a major step towards building Africa’s first continent-wide digital loyalty programme.
He praised the leadership and staff of both companies for their commitment in rolling out the initiative in Accra, Pokuase and Kumasi.
Mr McBarnett said the programme would allow customers to earn points through their everyday spending and redeem them across a growing network of partners.
According to him, the initiative would create a seamless digital ecosystem where consumers could enjoy rewards across multiple sectors while encouraging stronger collaboration among businesses.
The Chief Executive Officer of Melcom Group, Mr Ashok Nair, said customer satisfaction remained central to the company’s operations and that the partnership would give shoppers greater value through discounts and loyalty rewards.
He explained that under the Melcom Super Saver programme, customers currently enjoy a five per cent discount on purchases of GH¢250 and above, while card holders receive a 10 per cent discount on purchases above GH¢400 on the first and third Wednesdays of every month.
Mr Nair said the partnership with Point Africa would now allow customers to earn points anytime they shop, creating what he described as a “double advantage” for consumers.
He added that the initiative would not only reward customers but also stimulate economic growth by encouraging spending and strengthening collaboration among businesses on the platform.
Actor and Point Africa brand ambassador, Mr Van Vicker, described the partnership as a win-win initiative that would reward loyal customers while encouraging increased shopping activity.
He said customers would earn points whenever they shop at Melcom outlets and other Point Africa partner businesses, including fuel stations, data service providers and lifestyle brands.
According to him, customers who download the Point Africa mobile application would automatically receive points after purchases and could later redeem them to reduce future expenses.
Mr Vicker said the initiative stood out because it brought several businesses together under one loyalty platform, giving consumers wider opportunities to earn and redeem rewards across multiple services.
He urged the public to embrace the programme to save money while enjoying the benefits of digital commerce and loyalty rewards.
