More MMDCEs get nod

A unanimous endorsement by respective assembly members have become a permanent feature  following the release of the President’s nominees for the various Metropolitan, Municipal District Assemblies as announced  by the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Decentralisation on September19, 2021.

The trend continued on Monday at three Municipal Assemblies in the Greater Accra Region at La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly, Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly and Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly as monitored by Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey.

At La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly, the re-nominated Solomon Kotey was approved by all 15 Assembly Members.

All 16 Assembly Members of the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly also confirmed the nomination of Boye Laryea as MCE.

Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly’s 19 Assembly Members voted ‘Yes’ to endorse Sandra Owusu Ahenkorah as MCE.

Mr Quartey, in separate addresses, advised the MCEs to make the Assembly structure work devoid of politics.

He explained that the unanimous endorsements were indicative of the resident’s desire for growth and development.

The Minister called on leaders of other political parties to collaborate and join in the exercise saying that “we should work beautifully to give our people what they require of us.” 

On his part, Mr Kotey said the approval was an instruction to deliver and expressed confidence to work to meet the aspirations of residents in La Dadekotopon Municipality.

He stated that he would engage all relevant stakeholders to push the development of the Municipality 

Mr Laryea also thanked the President for the opportunity and pledged to do his best to bring about development.

Madam Ahenkorah expressed her commitment to work with all for the good of the Municipality.

 EMMANUEL ADU GYAMFI reports from KINTAMPO in the  Bono East Region that the Kintampo Municipal Assembly unanimously confirmed the President’s nominee, Mr Isaac Baffoe Ameyaw, with a 100 per cent ‘Yes’ votes at Kintampo in

The Assembly has 64 members with 45 being elected members and 19 government appointees.Out of the 64 voter turnout, all of them voted yes to confirm him.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Isaac Baffoe Ameyaw expressed gratitude to President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo – Addo, the Regional Minister, Mr Adu Gyan and the people of Kintampo Municipality, for reposing confidence in him to serve.

He promised to work tirelessly without any form of discrimination and partisanship to project the area strategically, to a global stage to enable it to attract tourists and investors.

“With unity and love, we shall overcome our weaknesses “, he assured the members.

The Bono East Regional Minister, Mr Adu Gyan, congratulated the elected MCE and charged him to make handwork, patience, dedication and love as his hallmark to develop the municipality.

Mr Gyan reiterated the vision of the government of Nana Akufo – Addo to bring development direct to the doorsteps of local communities and implored residents of the citizenry  to eschew the behaviour of bitterness, disunity and gossips.

The Member of Parliament for Kintampo North Constituency, Mr Joseph Kumah, called on residents of the municipality to sow the seed of unity without partisan politics.

Mr Kumah appealed to the Regional Minister to ensure the inner roads of Kintampo municipality and other bad roads of the area were fixed.

At Jema, the capital of Kintampo south, Mr Opoku Nyame , an educationist had 90 per cent confirmation.

 Out of the 40-voter turnout, he secured 36 “Yes” representing  90 per cent.

From Odumasi in the Bono Region, DANIEL DZIRASAH, reports that the President’s nominee for the Sunyani west District assembly Evans kumi Boadu confirmed with  38 votes out of the 53 ballots cast  representing 69 percent  of the electoral college.

The election was supervised by the Bono Regional Electoral Commission in a peaceful and calmed atmosphere.

There was police and military were present to provide security.

The new DCE in a brief comment thanked  president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for the position and assured to work hard to ensure  development of the District.

He stated that he cannot work alone and that he would need the support of others to enable him to succeed.

Mr Evans kumi Boadu was the Bono Regional school feeding coordinator as well the sunyani west constituency chairman for the ruling government prior to his nomination by the President

Earlier, the Bono Regional Minister Justina Owusu Banahene, appealed to the assembly members to consider the larger interest of the district and do the needful by voting massively for the president nominee without further delay.

She said the negative tag on the assembly for always creating confusion during such elections must give way to a positive one this time around so as to the narrative.

FROM BIMBILLA.YAKUBU ABDUL-MAJEED reports that assembly members of the Nanumba North municipality in the Northern Region yesterday confirmed  Mr Abdulai Yakubu as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

All the 59 assembly members present at the time of the confirmation voted yes for the nominee.

There was  wild jubilation immediately, the Northern Regional Director of Electoral Commission Mr Lucas Yiriyiri announced the endorsement of the nominee.

Mr Yakubu is one of the four MMDCEs who has been re-nominated by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the region.

Mr Yakubu who was elated about his endorsement commended the assembly members for the confidence reposed on him and thanked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for giving  another opportunity to serve his people.

“I am thankful to president and the assembly members for this golden opportunity again,” Mr Yakubu stated.

The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu advised the confirmed nominee to, as matter of urgent, initiate measures to ensure the successful implementation of the government programs and policies.
