Man jailed 15 years for incest

A circuit court in Accra has jailed a pupil teacher 15 years for having sex with his 17-year-old daughter, at Spintex, in Accra.

Daniel Segbedzi charged with incest was found guilty at the end of the trial by the court presided by Mrs Rita Abrokwah-Doko.

Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire told the court that the complainant is a businessman and the convict is the father of the victim, a student.

Prosecution said the victim and father reside at Spintex, and on August 23, 2016, the complainant met the victim crying, and he asked her what the problem was.

Chief Insp Atimbire said the victim recounted that the convict had been having sex with her, and that a year ago, Segbedzi called her into his room seeking to ascertain whether she had breast cancer.

The court heard that when the victim entered her father’s room, he had sex with the daughter.

According to Chief Insp Atimbire, Segbedzi continued to have sex with her, and warned the girl not to disclose her ordeal to anyone.

The complainant, according to prosecution reported the incident to the police at Baatsona and Segbedzi was arrested.

Chief Insp Atimbire said a policeman accompanied the victim to the Tema General Hospital where a senior medical officer examined her. – GNA
