GTF President Lartey Otu in Bamako for 2025 Africa Club Championship

The Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) President, Mr Frederick Lartey Otu, has arrived in Bamako, Mali, for the 2025 African Club Championships.
This follows his appointment as a Technical Delegate for the championship slated for Friday to Sunday, July 4-6, in the Malian capital.
“I hereby appoint you as the World Taekwondo (WT) Technical Delegate for the 2025 African Club Championships in Bamako,” a letter signed by the President of WT, Chungwon Choue sighted by The Times Sports said.
“The position of Technical Delegate is of utmost importance to the sport of taekwondo, which is why I have every belief that you will serve your post with integrity and pride,” the letter continued.
Mr Lartey Otu’s duties as a Technical Director would be to ensure that the tournament takes place in strict compliance with WT Competition Rules in fair judging and smooth operation.
“In addition, as a Technical Delegate, it’s also a duty to know and understand the various situations of Member National Associations (MNAs) through conversations with the officials of each MNAs,” the letter added.
Giving details of his role, Mr Otu, who doubles as the Second Vice President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), explained that he would be responsible for making technical decisions on rules and guidelines to be applied to the competition and check overall preparations made by the Organising Committee before the competition and also ensure everything has been arranged in strict conformity with the WT Competition Rules.
The Customs Officer told The Times Sports that he would also decide the method for drawing of lots and the ratio of random weigh-in, preside over the head of team meeting and any technical meeting, and approve results of draw and weigh-in.
During and post competition duties include acting as Chairman of Competition Supervisory Board and Extraordinary on-spot sanction committee and also make technical decisions in close cooperation with the Competition Supervisory Board (CSB).
Moreover, the Technical Delegate would also supervise and evaluate performances of PSS and referees, make final decision when unexpected situations arise in relation with the competition operation and management that are not covered by the WT Competition Rules and others.
