‘Her Power Through Sports’, Lincoln C’nity School organise street tennis in James town

The ‘Her Power Through Sports’ initiative under the Africa Tennis Connect Foundation last week hosted a Street Tennis and Interactive Learning Day in Jamestown, in partnership with the Lincoln Community School.
The event brought together over 70 children from the Jamestown community for a day filled with energy, creativity, and meaningful engagement.
Throughout the session, the children participated in a rich blend of activities that celebrated both local culture and global sports like ampe, tennis beginner sessions and rallies, basketball, dance, card and magic trick sessions and others.
A key highlight of the day was the introduction of the ‘Her Power Through Sports’ Interactive Learning Module, a dynamic format that merges illustrated educational tools with physical sport-based drills.
Naa Shika Adu, Founder of ‘Her Power Through Sports,’ told The Times Sports that the initiative was rooted in the organisation’s mission to build the capacity of young women to design and deliver inclusive, impactful sports programming while developing key skills across coaching, administration, event management, and community engagement.
She said through hands-on experience, creative play, and intentional mentorship, the initiative empowers young women and student volunteers to lead and deliver community programmes that spark real change.
“As seen in Jamestown, this initiative is more than outreach. Xhara Sencherey, an ambassador of ‘Her Power Through Sports,’ indicated that, “We were proud to host the Lincoln volunteers. The enthusiasm and teamwork shown by both the students and our community kids were inspiring. This is just the beginning of a broader movement.”
The event was coordinated by Malaika Sile, an ITF junior tennis player, Lincoln student, and a player at Ace Tennis Academy.
