Sackey saves Legon Cities from defeat
Legon Cities goalkeeper Sylvester Sackey put up a ‘Man-of-the-Match, display to deny visiting Dreams FC a win yesterdayas they drew in their match day 12 encounter of the betPawa Ghana Premier League (GPL) at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Cities started as the best side as the trio of Alex Aso, Samuel Armah and Kwabena Adu Meider kept the action in the half of the visitors.
On three occasions in the first half, Cities came close to scoringbut wasted the chances that included surprise miss by Armah who failed to connect home a pass in the six yard box.
Five minutes later, Meider drew a great save from Augustine Koomson in post for Dreams FC.
On the 33rd minute, Meider missed arguably the best chance of the game when with only Koomson at his mercy, he failed to beat him.
But the trend changed in the second half as Dreams FC turned the heat on the host and created very good scoring chances.
Their efforts were, however, thwarted by goalkeeper Sackey who stood between Dreams FC and a win.
In the 49th minute, he saved a chip from Abdul Aziz Issah.
Sackey was then forced into a double save by Victor Oduro midway through the half.
Following that was a test by winger Ishmael Dede in the 68th minute but Sackey scored full marks with a good save.
Ten minutes later, Sackey made the biggest save of the day when he dived to block a ferocious shot from Issah in the six yard box to earn his side a point.
