WAFA withdraws from DOL
The West African Football Academy Sporting Club (WAFA SC) has notified the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of the club’s decision to withdraw from the Access Bank Division One League (DOL).
The club, among other reasons, explained the current change of policy direction to fully focus on developing young football talents through the academy system in the Volta Region of Ghana.
The Executive Council of the GFA in the coming days will exercise its power under Article 78 of the GFA Statutes to find a replacement for WAFA in the Access Bank Division One League Zone 2 in the light of the established precedents.
A statement from the FA urged stakeholders and clubs in the Division One League Zone 2 to take note of the withdrawal of WAFA SC.
Meanwhile, the Executive Council of the GFA has settled on the Redaach Memorial Hotel in Tamale for the Elective Congress on September 27.
The Congress, which starts at 9am, will elect Executives to steer affairs of the Association for the next four years.
The Agenda for the Congress is the election of GFA President and Executive Council Members from Premier League, Division One League and Women’s Premier League, a statement from the FA noted.
