Tennis: 2nd Fine Water Classic Open takes off tomorrow

The second edition of the Fine Water Classic Open Social Tennis Tournament takes off tomorrow through to March 28 at the Ghana Tennis Club, Adabraka.

The tournament under the auspices of the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) will be played on weekends and is open to seasoned players, rising stars, and enthusiastic amateur players.

Defending men’s singles champion, Nicholson Nartey’s, title will come under challenge from Ghana Tennis Club’s top seed, Stanley Nyarko, as well as David Carreras and Nana Poku, who have all confirmed their readiness to unseat Nartey.

Speaking to the Times Sports, Lead Coordinator, Mr Joseph Nii Armah, said everything was in place for a great takeoff tomorrow.

He announced the introduction of several enhancements to elevate the tournament experience, key among them being the increment of the prize pool, the introduction of women’s singles, and tennis clinics, among others.

Also, there will be fan engagement activities with autograph sessions with players, and a family-friendly carnival zone, food bazaar, and live music, all in a bid to create a festive atmosphere for all attendees.

Captain of the Ghana Tennis Club, Mr Aaron Eggley, indicated that the tournament was more than just a sporting event, as it has been designed to celebrate the tennis fraternity.
